Basic Rates (Excluding Tax)

The following standards are for end-users. Our estimates are created according to these standards as well as the content and delivery date of the translation request. Discounts are available if the amount of work exceeds a certain level or if work can be conducted on a regular basis.
We also offer low-cost translation services.
In addition to the translation fees listed below, we charge an administrative fee of 3–10% of the total amount, depending on the nature of your request.
For requests from other translation agencies, agencies, or production companies, we have a subcontracting fee schedule.
In addition, we can arrange for the on-site assignment of translation coordinators and in-house translators, as well as the provision of native-speaking narrators, upon request.

Translation

For small translation projects, we typically charge a minimum fee of 10,000 yen. (For individual clients, the minimum fee is 8,000 yen.) We offer a discounted minimum fee to our regular clients.
Additionally, when translating into multiple languages simultaneously, a minimum fee applies for each language; depending on the number of languages, this minimum fee ranges from 5,000 to 8,000 yen.

English

For Chinese → Japanese and Korean → Japanese translations, fees are calculated based on 400 characters per page of the source text. For Chinese → Japanese translations that do not require specialized knowledge, the rate is 10 yen per Chinese character (4000 ÷ 400). Please contact us directly for rates of language pairs not mentioned above (e.g., English → Chinese).

Options

Speedy Translation Fees	20–40% surcharge on the above rates (if delivery is required earlier than our standard turnaround time)
When using translation memory (Trados)	The base unit price is increased by 1 yen over the above rates, and discounts are applied per sentence based on the memory match rate
When delivering in HTML format for websites	5% surcharge on the above rates (if Trados is not used)

Subcontracting Rates Are Set As Follows:

For requests from other translation companies: approximately 50–80%
For requests from non-translation companies (e.g., agencies or production companies, where the client differs from the end customer): 90%

Check and Post-edit Only

English native checks (editing, proofreading, and more done by a native English speaker) only	40% of the translation fees
Target language check only	30% of the translation fees
Target language check + English native checks	50% of the translation fees

The final cost is calculated based on the complexity of figures and tables, along with the specific file formats required for the source and target files.

Japanese Text Digitization	2.5 yen/character
English Text Digitization	1.3 yen/character
Service charges for converting physical paper documents into digital formats.

Audio Transcription (EN/JP)	From 200 yen/minute
Costs are determined by the total duration of the playback audio. Various factors influence the rate, such as audio clarity and background noise, the speaker's pace, technical depth, and how quickly you need the result.

Preparation & Post-Processing	From 3,000 yen/hour
Covers specialized tasks like building translation memories from legacy files or handling text extraction and re-integration for complex file types. Billing is strictly based on the total hours of manual labor involved.

Voice Recording & Studio Editing	From 300,000 yen/hour
Includes professional voice talent fees and studio rental for narration. The estimate assumes a single narrator producing one hour of finished audio. We can also provide captioning for DVD and video projects if required.
