Localization
To succeed in today’s increasingly globalized software market, an application must become the number one in its category—in other words, the de facto standard. As part of this process, developing and marketing localized versions is a key strategy. This includes translating user interface resources such as menus and dialog boxes, as well as user-facing materials such as help files and manuals, into multiple languages. This process of creating language-specific versions is known as localization.
- We have established a comprehensive framework to support all phases of localization, including:
- Coordination, translation, quality assurance, and management of UI resources and manuals
- Post-localization engineering support, including synchronization with ongoing resource updates, integration of translated data into source files, and resizing of dialog boxes and UI controls to accommodate translated text
- Localization testing and debugging
At present, we do not use our in-house machine translation software for localization projects. However, we are planning and proposing a system that specializes in applying machine translation technology to localization workflows. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us for a consultation.
Achievements
- Post-localization engineering and project management for a major U.S. software company
- Post-localization engineering for the German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch versions of print job management software for a major computer company
Internationalization
Internationalization (i18n) is the process of designing an application to be independent of language and locale, forming a foundation for effective localization.
While planning for global deployment from the initial stages of development can increase costs and is not yet widely adopted, it greatly simplifies future localization efforts. We offer internationalization both from the start of development and concurrently with localization projects.
